Griffin Museum of Science and Industry Welcomes New Chief Development Officer, Daniel Solow

CHICAGO – The Griffin Museum of Science & Industry is pleased to announce that Daniel Solow is joining the team as Chief Development Officer and Vice President of External Affairs. Bringing more than 20 years of experience in philanthropy and institutional advancement, Solow will lead the fundraising strategy and donor engagement for one of the world’s largest science museums.

“Daniel leads with integrity, empathy and a deep understanding of the power of relationships to drive meaningful change,” said Dr. Chevy Humphrey, President and CEO of Griffin MSI. “His exceptional development expertise — paired with a genuine passion for our mission — will be instrumental as we expand our reach and impact in the lead-up to our centennial.”

Most recently, Solow founded Four Verticals, LLC, a philanthropy and leadership consulting practice. He previously served as Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Development Officer at the University of Southern California Department of Athletics. At USC, he led the Trojans to their second highest fundraising year in school history and drove fundraising plans for over $400 million of capital projects. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Northwestern University helping raise more than $450 million, setting fundraising records across all 19 sports programs. Solow also held development roles at Hofstra University, the University of Cincinnati and Northern Illinois University.

“I am excited to join an institution with such a rich legacy and ambitious vision,” said Solow. “From my own school field trips decades ago to recent visits with my sons, I have experienced the wonder of Griffin MSI firsthand. It is an honor to be able to help shape the future of this iconic institution that inspires generations.”

A Chicago native, Daniel holds a B.A. in Politics from Occidental College, where he was a two-time captain of the golf team and an M.S. in Sports Management from Northern Illinois University.
