Student Motivation and Engagement: The Secret Sauce

This full day workshop demystifies how motivation and engagement work — and don’t work — in school settings, giving you research-validated tools to cultivate the seeds of motivation and engagement that exist within all your students. Supportive, collaborative work time during the session will leave you with concrete plans for your classroom.

About the workshop
This one-day informational workshop allows participants to:
- Start planning or modifying lessons to increase motivation and engagement with their students, using resources provided during the workshop
- Understand how designing activities that support internal motivation leads to student engagement
- Recognize the importance of personal relevance to enhance students’ motivation and engagement
We will provide strategies and structures for lesson planning to support students' intrinsic motivation and increase their engagement. Supportive, collaborative work time during the workshop will leave you with concrete plans you can put into action immediately. Examples used in the workshop will include elementary science lessons and non-science examples. The concepts and strategies explored will be applicable to all disciplines and all grade levels. Knowledge gained may be useful for participants who are providing professional learning opportunities for teachers in their schools or districts.
Course Price: $250 per participant (from non-priority schools)*
Lunch and free parking provided. Earns 6 hours of professional learning credits.
