Content expertise: STEM education policy, the role of museums in education
Andrea Ingram has been at MSI since 2006 and is responsible for providing strategic vision and organizational management of MSI’s Welcome to Science Initiative, which includes the Institute for Quality Science Teaching and Learning, Community Initiatives, and Guest Experiences, as well as the Museum’s Guest Admissions and Guest Operations departments. The division’s work includes developing and delivering experiences grounded in Museum content through professional development of middle-grades science teachers; community-based initiatives serving in upward of 10,000 youth throughout Chicago; Learning Lab experiences targeting nearly 300,000 annual student guests, and facilitated exhibit and venue-based experiences for the Museum’s nearly 1.4 million annual guests.
Ingram has been frequently interviewed by the media, including Newsweek, Education Week, WTTW’s Chicago Tonight, Chicago Public Radio, the Chicago Tribune and more. She testified twice before Congressional committees on the role of science museums in STEM education, and has spoken internationally about the Museum’s work with education and museum leaders in South Korea and Argentina.
