Building a Better System

The Grid

As we work to create a better energy future, scientists are incorporating more clean and renewable sources of energy – like wind and solar – into our electrical grid. Yet wind and solar are variable, as they stop producing power when the wind isn’t blowing or when it gets dark. In order to fully harness wind and solar energy, we need to develop storage technologies that allow the energy to be available when it’s needed.

Discover how smart grid technology can respond to our ever-changing energy needs, while incorporating more renewable power sources.
