Community scientists report!

The Global Big Day Bird Count is back, and members are invited to join employees, volunteers and Outdoor Afro participants as part of a global effort to count as many different birds in 24 hours as possible. We're thrilled to be joined by one of the research associates from the Field Museum, who'll lead us through Jackson Park and introduce us to the interesting varieties of birds living in and passing through MSI’s backyard.

Social distancing and masks will be in full effect, and all experience levels are welcome—please be prepared for the weather.

Registration is full for in-person participants.

Those of you who can't join us in person can still participate from home! Just complete the form and our staff will then follow up with you with specific instructions on how to submit your count. Just grab a seat on your back porch or at the window and tally up all the winged wonders you see.
