Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives
October 16, 2013 - January 4, 2015 |
In Anaheim, California, a place of reassurance would open amid the Cold War's uncertainty. The very idea of Disneyland, a theme park of an unprecedented scale, represented a big financial risk. But just as he had done with Snow White, Walt again took that risk and bet on his personal vision. Using a television partnership to finance the project, and assembling a group of "Imagineers" to make it real, Walt opened Disneyland to the world on July 17, 1955. It provided the guiding example for the worldwide Disney parks and resorts to follow.
The exhibit salutes Disneyland® Park in California and Magic Kingdom® Park in Florida, showcasing artwork, Audio-Animatronics® characters, and memorabilia from such popular attractions as it’s a small world, Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln, The Hall of Presidents, as well as early plans and correspondence for Walt Disney’s vision of Epcot.
