Once the foaming was complete, the scenic elements were given color by adding dirt, glue, and other modeling techniques to realistically recreate the countryside. The benchwork sections were brought into the Museum in over 50 pieces and the scenic sections were brought in much smaller segments. Once the scenic sections were mounted to the benchwork, the seams were foamed and repainted to appear seamless. The artisans then added trees, rocks and other scenic elements to give further life to the layout.
