Open the Doors and Step Inside
The home's interior has a new vibrant color palette, created with low-VOC paints, and with the help of Verde Design Studio, it has been redecorated with unique furniture and accessories including a sofa upholstered in eco-friendly linen, kitchen countertops made with red recycled glass, a dining room table made from recycled steel, chandeliers made from motorcycle parts and bathroom tile created out of reclaimed marble from the Wrigley Building’s restoration project.
Upstairs, the home office has been moved to the hallway loft space to maximize space and make room for the nursery—featuring a baby crib and changing table made from sustainable bamboo and organic linens.
The overall architecture of the home continues to demonstrate the use of natural light, open spaces, energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and energy-efficient building components to maximize a healthy-living environment. Guests learn how storm water runoff can be used collected for landscape irrigation; how toilets can be equipped to use waste water from the sink; how spray-in foam insulation can create a completely sealed building, resulting in better air quality, a quieter home and greater energy efficiency.
