Jim Henson's Fantastic World also features highlights and clips from his work in television and movies, including:
- Henson's first television show, Sam and Friends, a nightly five-minute segment that began in 1955 on Washington, D.C.'s WRC-TV. The original Kermit puppet (made with ping-pong balls and Henson's mother's coat) debuted on this show, which also featured an inventive recurring bit called "Visual Thinking."
- Commercials produced for Wilkins Coffee, LaChoy Chow Mein, Linit Fabric Finish and other companies between 1957 and 1967.
- Time Piece (1965), an experimental short film that was nominated for an Academy Award®.
- An original 18-minute documentary, featuring Jim Henson in his own words.
