Think before you eat and drink.
Explore proper nutrition and ways to make healthy food choices.
Watch and listen as two teens square off in a video conversation about food choices, and how small changes can make a big difference in your diet. The students discuss the foods they eat often—mostly foods high in sugar, fat and salt— and compare them to the types of foods they should be eating such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. The discussion also emphasizes drinking water to maintain a healthy balance.
This interactive computer animation gives you the opportunity to put some of your favorite foods to the test and compete in the animated “Food Olympic games.” Each “food athlete” is given a jersey number based upon the number count of calories, it contains. When pitted against each other in a foot race, how will a bag of potato chips compare against an apple or against a candy bar or pretzel? Who will be the strongest: the hot dog, the grilled chicken or the pizza? Which beverage will be the most agile: the milk, fruit juice or water? Click away and watch the foods go for the gold!
What’s on Your Plate?
This tabletop puzzle allows you to grab several different pieces of “food” to create meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. Will your food choices be the right pieces to create a healthy picture? See the choices your friends and family make and how long it will take you to complete the puzzle.
