Home s(wee)t home
What's the perfect neighbor for MSI’s Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit—a real, functioning three-story home, one of the “greenest” in Chicago—right in the Museum’s backyard? The 128-square-foot, zero-net energy Tiny House!
Developed by students and recent alumni from Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Tiny House will move next door to the Smart Home for a limited time.
In an effort to teach and promote sustainability and simple living, Northwestern students designed the Tiny House, which includes everything a person needs: a living room, kitchen, bathroom, sleeping loft, storage area, an awning for shade and even a fireplace.
From May 24 through June 7, the Tiny House is included in timed-entry tickets for Smart Home: Green + Wired (which is not included in general admission). After the Smart Home tour, you will be invited step inside Tiny House, where Northwestern students will be available to explain its features.
