Science Works: Cool Jobs, Hot Careers invites youth and families to learn about interesting jobs straight from the professionals at a Museum-wide STEM career fair. This year's event is October 17, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features an array of dynamic speakers, hands-on activities and one-on-one discussions.
Students can discover what “cool jobs” the science, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM) fields have to offer, see how to turn their passion into a career, and get advice on pursuing a future in STEM occupations, which are steadily increasing in the job market!
Jr. Science Cafés
Have you ever wondered what it's really like to be a scientist? Experience fun activities in these interactive sessions taking place during Science Works! Education Classrooms, Balcony Level 3. Ages 10 and up. Space is limited.
11 a.m. – Caring for your SMILE with students from UIC College of Dentistry!
Noon - Animal Health with a veterinarian and her furry pals!
1 p.m. – Scary Science with a stuntman!
2 p.m. – The Chemistry of Candy with food scientists!
Special Presentation: How I Became an Astronaut
12:30 p.m. – Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Presentation featuring former NASA astronaut Frederick Gregory.

Dance Performance: “Far From Equilibrium”
1:00 p.m. – Experience the beauty of turbulence and consider uncertainty, complexity, and how motion underlies form. Choreographed by Megan Rhyme, independent choreographer, and Elizabeth Hicks, Ph.D., Epsilon Delta Labs. Rotunda, Main Level
