Astrophysicist James Sweitzer, Ph.D., offers an up-to-the minute reality check on climate change and the conversation around it. He’ll review recent weather events worldwide and explain the basic science behind them. He'll also explore the phenomenon of climate change denial, and discuss how we can improve the future for ourselves and the environment.
Since receiving his doctorate in astrophysics from the University of Chicago, James Sweitzer has, among other roles, served as assistant director at the Adler Planetarium, created the U of C’s Center for Astronomical Research in Antarctica and launched Science Communications Consultants (SCC), a firm that consults on the building and renovation of planetariums around the world. In 2007, Jim was selected to join Al Gore’s Climate Project "cavalry." He enjoys presenting the facts on climate change from an astronomer’s perspective to audiences young and old.
