How does lightning happen? What happens when it strikes people?
Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling explores this and more when he presents his WGN documentary When Lightning Strikes. The documentary features scientists who study lightning—including a team who induced lightning by shooting rockets into thunderstorms—and airline pilots recounting their experiences with this occupational hazard. After the screening, Skilling will lead a discussion of this fascinating and dangerous natural phenomenon.
