We are pleased to offer a variety of shops, restaurants and amenities to enhance your Museum experience.
Strollers are available in the Entry Hall for a $2 charge. An photo ID is required for the rental. To reserve a stroller in advance, contact the Coat Check at (773) 753-6862 or coatcheck(at)msichicago.org.
Wheelchairs are available in the Entry Hall. A photo ID is required for complimentary use of a wheelchair. To reserve a wheelchair in advance, contact the Coat Check at (773) 753-6862 or coatcheck(at)msichicago.org. (Elevators and ramps serve all public areas within the building.)
The Museum and the Omnimax Theater are accessible to persons with disabilities. Please read our FAQ page for more specifics.
Segways are permitted inside the Museum when in use by individuals with disabilities as their chosen mobility device. At our facility's discretion, some Museum areas may be designated as off-limits to Segway use for the safety of our guests. Segways may not be left at Coat Check.
MSI welcomes nursing mothers, who may nurse their babies in any public space in the Museum. MSI also has a nursing room in the Idea Factory exhibit on Lower Level 1.
Elevators are located throughout the Museum to accommodate our guests.
Coat Check is available in the Entry Hall. The cost is $1 per item. There are no lockers available. The Museum's Coat Check does not accept the following items: any electronic devices including but not limited to laptop computers and cell phones; food of any kind (however, water is permitted); personal strollers; fur coats; bicycles and Segways. Although our Coat Check is staffed during all open hours, any and all items are checked at the owner's own risk. The Museum is not responsible for loss or damage to stored property. Lost and Found
Lost and Found is located at the Coat Check in the Entry Hall. To inquire about a lost item, you can contact the Coat Check at (773) 753-6862 or coatcheck(at)msichicago.org. All items turned in to our Lost and Found are kept for 60 days from when they are turned in.
ATM/Cash Stations are located on the Lower Level, just east of the main escalators, and in the Entry Hall by the Coat Check.

- Lower Level: Henry Crown Space Center
- Lower Level: U-505 Submarine exhibit
- Main Level: near Yesterday's Main Street and the Coal Mine

First Aid can be requested by alerting a uniformed Museum staff member.
Water fountains are located in the Red, Blue, Green and Yellow Stairs.
