From Hollywood to Chicago
See the cryptex and rosewood box™ ©2006 Columbia Pictures prop that was used in the movie, The Da Vinci Code. The creation of both pieces took shape from an amalgam of Leonardo’s mechanical designs and Dan Brown’s description in his bestselling book. The cryptex is integral to the story’s plot, as it holds the location of the Holy Grail inside. According to the story, the rosewood box holding the cryptex contained clues to its combination; these clues were written in the same backwards script as Leonardo’s notes.
