Francis Wells uses Leonardo’s anatomical studies to improve surgical techniques.  A cardio-thoracic surgeon who specializes in heart valve reconstruction and the surgical management of lung cancer, Wells pioneered a procedure to repair the heart’s mitral valve without altering its normal diameter, allowing patients to be more physically active once they recover.
