Tank

Leonardo envisioned this tank as a safe way for soldiers to move through dangerous war zones. Improving upon previous designs, he incorporated a turtle-shaped shell surrounded by cannon. Inside the cramped quarters, eight men powered the tank by turning cranks attached to different kinds of wheels. The sloped, armor-plated roof kept them safe by deflecting enemy fire.
