Cardiologist
The cardiologist, a heart specialist, performs diagnostic tests like cardiac catheterization. The cardiologist follows the patient's progress throughout hospitalization, regulates medications and determines when the patient should be discharged from the hospital. A cardiologist has a four-year college degree, a four-year medical degree and up to four years of further training.
Medical Lab Technician
The lab technician performs diagnostic tests to detect diseases. A medical lab technician completes a two-year program.
Dietician
The dietician recommends a diet based on the medical needs of the patient. The dietician counsels the patient and his family on healthy eating habits to prevent disease and promote good health. A dietician has a four-year college degree and often a Master's degree in dietetics or nutrition.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
The EMT works in emergency situations like accident scenes to offer immediate assistance to victims. An EMT completes a basic EMT course.
