Future Energy Chicago
Participate in a multi-player visual simulation to envision Chicago's energy future.
About the lab
Use real-world data and game play as you work in teams to envision Chicago's energy future by participating in a multi-player visual simulation.
- Grades: 4th - 8th
- Capacity: 30 students
- Duration: 75 minutes
- Cost: $140
- Offered Tuesday through Friday at 10:15 a.m.
This brand-new, one-of-a-kind simulation invites students to work together to envision Chicago’s energy future. Take a fresh and dynamic look at our energy choices – the possibilities, the opportunities and steps we can collectively take to create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy future.
In the Energy Garden, students will use the energy of their own bodies to bring the exhibit to life. Discover basic ideas about energy through physical play -- that it is in everything including themselves, it exists in many forms, and we can transform it to do useful things.
In the Future Energy Simulation, students will rotate in groups through five games in which players design an energy efficient future car and house, improve tomorrow's neighborhood and reinvent Chicago's transportation and power generation systems. The goal for each game is to maximize energy efficiency while considering the pros and cons of each choice you make.
