Pre- and Post-Visit Activities
Resident for a Day
Ask students to imagine what it would be like to train in as a doctor in the emergency room or operating room. Have them write a journal entry from a “Day in the Life of a Resident.”
Vocabulary Art Book
Visual learners have an opportunity to create pictures that illustrate the meaning of vocabulary words. Give each student a page of a booklet for each vocabulary word. After they design each page, students will staple them together and use them as a review packet.
Essay
In the lab, students participate in training in both the ER and the OR. Back in the classroom, ask students to compare and contrast the two experiences and write a one page compare and contrast essay.
