NEW OMNIMAX® FILM, ROCKY MOUNTAIN EXPRESS, OPENS AT
THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY, CHICAGO (MSI)
WHAT
All aboard! Jump on the restored Empress locomotive on a steam train journey through the Canadian Rockies in MSI’s new Omnimax® film, Rocky Mountain Express. Opening Oct. 7, 2011, at Chicago’s only five-story, domed Omnimax Theater, Rocky Mountain Express relates the epic adventure of building the young Canadian Dominion’s first transcontinental railway. The film weaves together spectacular IMAX aerial cinematography, breathtaking western vistas, archival photographs and maps and the potent energy and rhythms of a live steam locomotive to immerse audiences in an era of ingenuity and struggle and a region of stunning natural beauty. Discover the heroic human drama and epic engineering involved in shaping a nearly impossible transcontinental railway link!
WHEN
Opens Friday, October 7, 2011; This film runs through March 2012 at MSI.
Daily show times: 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
COST
Omnimax films are not included in general admission and require an additional, timed-entry ticket: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors; $6 for children (ages 3-11). General admission to the Museum is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for children 3-11. City of Chicago residents get a discount on general admission.
