We offer over 8 different and unique spaces throughout the museum that can used along or in combination with each other for intimate groups of 20 to the entire museum for 12,000 guests. As always, rental of any space includes the following:

Rotunda
The art deco designed Rotunda space is located in the heart of the museum with direct access and views to many exhibits including Science Storms, The Great Train Story and You! The Experience. With large expanses and soring ceilings this space is ideal for large seated dinner, receptions and presentations.

U-505 Exhibit
Your guests can dine in the shadow of a legendary WWII submarine. This impressive two-story space is perfect for separating reception and dinner. The U- 505 comes complete with dramatic lighting and a customized soundtrack. Guests can enjoy 200 artifacts, interactive exhibits and a docent led on- board tour.

Henry Crown Space Center
Guests will have an out of this world experience as they socialize alongside the original Apollo 8 Command Module, the Aurora 7 Mercury Space Capsule and the Lunar Module trainer.

Available for events with the rental of the Henry Crown Space Center, “Chicago’s Greenest Home” is the perfect place to sip a glass of organic wine while learning how to make eco-friendly living a part of your life.

Omnimax Theater
Doing a presentation? The Omnimax is perfect for this. Your PowerPoint will be projected onto a five- story, domed, wrap-around screen. The theater was recently renovated with new chairs, carpet and LCD projection with digital sound.

Outdoor Porticos and Lagoon
Just in case our more than 400,000-square-feet of exhibit space aren’t enough for you, we have some outdoor options to consider as well. The North and South Porticos can be tented for up to 1,500 people. Enjoy beautiful lush landscaping. The South Portico is adjacent to the waterway created for the 1893 Columbian Exposition; Jackson Park Lagoon.
Both spaces are available with the rental of the Main Level.
West Pavillion
This multifunctional space is ideal for larger daytime meetings offering a flexible 2 story space. The main floor can accommodate classroom seating for up to 100 people with locations for breakouts and food service in close proximity. In addition, the Auditorium and Little Theatre spaces can be incorporated in the rental.

Auditorium & Little Theatre
This traditional presentation facility is available for multimedia programs, screen presentations, and speaker programs. Adjacent space is available to accommodate a reception for up to 600 guests or additional programming.

Columbian Room
This new built space offers state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities and has available WIFI. This space may be set up for classroom seating, roundtable discussions, lectures or luncheon meetings and has adjacent space for all food and beverage service. This private space is available for meetings and events during regular museum hours making it perfect for meetings and groups.
